1. How can I amend beneficiary account information, transaction limit and terminate s transfer service?

2. What are the registered account and unregistered account?

A registered account refers to a beneficiary account which has been registered in advance. You visit our branch/sub-branches to register the beneficiary account. When transfer is made to the registered account, you are no longer required to input account information - account name and account no. The daily transfer limit for each registered account is HKD 1 million. Both local and overseas bank funds transfer service may each carry a maximum of 99 registered accounts. An unregistered account refers to a beneficiary account which has not been registered in advance. You have to input the beneficiary account information whenever you transfer funds to this beneficiary. The daily transfer limit for each unregistered account is HKD20,000.

3. I am not allowed to carry out the unregistered third party account transfer on the internet banking. Why?

There may be two reasons:

1. This function requires two-factor authentication, Security Device or ‘SMS One-time Password';    

2.  Should there be no unregistered third party account transfer transaction done in the past twelve months, to safeguard your interests, we will temporarily de-activate this transfer function until we receive your instruction to re-activate it. Please visit any of our branches to resume the function.

4. How can I check the local/overseas bank funds transfer transaction details, charges and status?

You can login your Internet Banking Account to check the information. Please click [ECT Enquiry] or [CHATS Enquiry] button to enquire instant transaction of local bank funds transfer records. For instruction transfer(one-off or recurring), please click [ECT Enquiry] to enquire transaction records. Besides, transaction history for instruction records enquiry is also available;

You may click [Status Enquiry] or [My Account] > [Account Enquiry] > [Last 20 Transaction Records] to enquire overseas bank funds transfer records.

5. Can I cancel/amend the overseas bank funds transfer after submission?

If the order status you submitted is 'processing', you may cancel and establish a new order through internet banking. If the order status is "sent", then you should approach to our branch or sub-branches to cancel / amend your order.

6. How to pay for the handling charge for overseas bank funds transfer? What is the charge?

There are three options for you to pay for the charges. You can choose to deduct the charges from:
(1) beneficiary account (charges include commission and cable fee);
(2) your remitting amount (charges include commission, correspondent bank charges and cable fee) or;
(3) your designated account (charges include commission, correspondent bank charges and cable fee).

7. Is it compulsory to input beneficiary's telephone number, fax number and email address?

We suggest that you provide the receiving bank such information (if possible) so that they may contact the beneficiary and release funds promptly.

8. What is the correspondent bank information and when should I input such information?

Correspondent bank is a bank with which the receiving bank maintains a settlement account. Correspondent bank information refers to the correspondent bank name, address and the receiving bank's settlement account. If the currency you transfer is not the local currency of the receiving bank, then you have to input the correspondent bank information.

9. Can I enter Chinese characters or symbols as message for overseas bank funds transfer?

We are sorry that we accept message in English only for local bank funds transfer. Besides, for acceptance of characters or symbols, please refer to the "Accepted symbols and characters for local bank funds transfer".

10. For local bank funds transfer, is it compulsory to input beneficiary name?

Yes, you should provide beneficiary name.
